| National Education Association invited Kahler teacher, Mary Tanis, to participate in the EPA National Symposium in Washington, D.C. (Dec.'08) as a presenter. The EPA Tools for Schools is a program for schools that focuses on Indoor Environmental Quality. The presentation was about impletmenting lessons plans from the EPA TfS program. Three leaders demonstrated the lesson plans using examples. Kahler's EcoTeens were featured as well as lessons used at Kahler to inform students about indoor air quality and to explain the "systems" here at school. Application to the home environment was also stressed. Dr. Chabot was a guest of the EPA. He attended several sessions over the three day Symposium. He gleaned insight into the importance of indoor environmental quality of schools. Indiana State Teachers Association is supporting legislation regarding TfS in the Indiana General Assembly. |
